Policies and Procedures

Please read through the information below for an orientation on how our custom-built shoe process works. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to building your shoes!

The Ordering Process

We detail the ordering process on the dedicated ordering information page, but in brief:

1) Use this website to become familar with the shoe styles and types we build: the descriptions and pictured examples will provide a starting point. Perhaps you like the look and character of a particular named shoe and want that same shoe. Perhaps you’d like a variation on the theme and build your own.

2) Contact us to discuss what you’d like and explore the options. We’ll also be able to provide a price estimate and production time frame after our discussion.

3) We will mail you a measurement kit. Follow the instructions, answer the questions and return it to us via return mail. We will contact you upon receipt of the kit and verify that we have what we need.

4) We will send you an invoice for the shoes as ordered and schedule your shoes for production upon receipt of payment.

Exchanges and Refunds

Your satisfaction is our primary goal and we take pride in the quality of our workmanship. Our shoes carry a guarantee on the handsewn stitching and leather quality.

Because our work is custom, we ask that when you receive your WillyMocs, try them out on in a clean, carpeted area to see if the fit is satisfactory. If the fit isn’t right, you may return the unworn moccasins for exchange. We will remake your shoe as quickly as we can. If we are unable to fit you, we will issue a refund within 30 days. Shipping charges will not be refunded. Please include a copy of the original invoice when returning the shoes for size change or refund.

Payments, Deposits, and Shipping

PAYMENT: We accept VISA, MC, Discover, American Express, money orders and personal checks (personal checks are cleared before we begin order).

ORDER DEPOSIT: Whether you choose a named style and color standard shoe or take the build-your-own route after calling us for a quote on a specific combination of leathers, colors, soles, lining, and style, the $25 kit fee serves as a deposit towards purchase, as we must send you a Measurement and Information Kit so we can make your shoes fit you exactly.

KIT FEE: A fee of $25 is required to send out your Measurement and Information Kit, but is deducted from the total amount of your shoe order once we begin building your shoes and full payment is received.

SHIPPING: Shipping is by United States Postal Service unless you specify otherwise. Shipping and handling: $20 per pair.

TURN-AROUND: Once we bill you, receive payment, and begin building your shoes, expect shipment in about 4 weeks.

INTERNATIONAL: International Orders must be paid in US funds (credit card). All orders must include complete address and telephone number, including country code. You are responsible for all duties, customs charges and taxes.

Shoe Repairs and Resoles

REPAIRS: A pair of WillyMocs with a handsewn sole is not like your standard footwear. They are meticulously handsewn to provide years of enjoyable wear, but a new sole my eventually be needed. Because the construction and hand sewing is not familiar to many shoe repair shops, we urge you to send your shoes back to us for a rebuild and refurbishment.

RESOLES: Your handsewn WillyMocs can be resoled for $250 (does not include shipping), provided the leather has been well maintained and is in good condition. If you have a pair of double-soled moccasins purchased for another source in need of repair or resole, we would be glad to check and rebuild them if possible. Vibram® soles may also be replaced at a cost of $125, plus shipping.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS: Please include a note with the shoes when you send them to us that specifies what needs to be done. Include your name, address, phone number and the best time to call. We strive to get repairs completed as soon as possible, but it may take up to 3 weeks, as we are building other shoes.

SEND CLEAN: For health and safety reasons, please clean your moccasins before sending them to us for a resole.

Shoes Built From Your Own Hides

Many different leather varieties make up into wonderful shoes and boots and can be an extremely personal gift when made from your own hides. We have had many customers send us their hides so we can determine if the hide would be adequate to make the style requested. The tannage, size, and quality of the leather determines whether it will be usable or not. The average pair of shoes requires approximately 3 to 4 square feet of leather. A boot requires 5 to 6 square feet. All leather not used in making your shoe will be returned. The cost will be the same price of the style you request, as a customer-supplied hide requires special attention.

Privacy Notice

Your privacy and patronage is very important to us—we will never sell our customer list. We keep your information and measurements on file to facilitate future orders, repairs, and resoles.
